Kell Brook Says A Chris Eubank Jr Fight Happens on His Terms
When welterweight boxer Kell “Special K” Brook (40-3, 28 KO’s) entered his last bout against Amir Khan, the boxing world openly speculated how much he had left in the tank. After roughing up and stopping Khan in the sixth round of their affair however, Brook obviously proved he has more to give. Even better, as a result of the high-profile win, he is not exactly hurting for opponents to face.
One of the leading candidates of those potential adversaries is middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KO’s). In fact, Eubank Jr near immediately called out Brook following his victorious match over Khan. Initially though, it was unclear how Special K would respond to the proposed duel. Now, as he told Sky Sports Boxing, he is very willing to fight with Eubank Jr…technically speaking.
“Chris Eubank, I don’t like the guy [but] we can fight! There are many options for me now, I’m in the driver’s seat.”
STAND BACK, I’M THE MAN!
The only glaring issue waiting to happen is figuring out at which division the two would stage their collision. Obviously, Brook is at 147, while Eubank is campaigning at middleweight. Yet, let Special K tell it, there would be no confusion whatsoever as to who is calling the shots and dictating terms!
“I’m the A-side now! With that performance, with that domineering performance, of course I am the A-side. I’m the man now, again!”
Certainly, any fighter that is worth his boxing gloves will fancy themselves to be the “real deal” in any fight that they accept. Eubank, who is ranked #1 (WBA), #3 (WBO) and #3 (WBC), is without question going to have a difference of opinion. Yet, let’s see if these conflicting viewpoints prevent the bout from taking place or only adds more fuel to the fire.
