Brian Castano Responds to PED Allegation from Jermell Charlo
With just over a week to go until his highly anticipated rematch on May 14 with unified 154-pound champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (34-1-1, 18KOs), WBO champion Brian “El Boxi” Castaño (17-0-2, 12KOs) has hit back at his rival over some nasty and serious allegations. Back in April, Charlo accused Castaño of faking an injury and also taking PEDs.
Obviously those are extremely serious accusations to hurl at a fighter, especially with no ounce of proof to back up such statements. Now, as the fight draws closer and closer, El Boxi has been asked again about the comments, which rightfully set him off.

He told the media the following:
“These allegations are basically an example of who he is as a person. […] I think it’s extremely disrespectful to every athlete out there that has an injury and needs to recover. Just because he thinks that I had to take like PEDs [..], like that’s insane. I didn’t do that, that’s disrespectful, but that’s who he is. That’s the type of person he is. He’s very insecure.”
With Castaño feeling disrespected and ready to dish out a severe beating on Charlo, with Charlo also looking to do the same, this second fight has all the potential to surpass the first bout which happened to be a terrific fight. Regardless of how it plays out, I think most can agree that we all want to see a clear winner determined as the 154-pound undisputed champion.
