Dana White Disrespecting Boxing By Not Recognizing The Belts
MMA CEO Dana White has the boxing world in an uproar, as critics and fans are not inspired by his recent comments. While speaking with Max Kellerman, White acknowledged Zuffa Boxing will have its own belt and won’t recognize any of the other sanctioning bodies. Furthermore, he admitted that the winner of the Zuffa Belt will have a shot at the Ring Magazine title.
In addition, White wants to add an amendment to the Ali Boxing Reform Act, allowing for a two-tier system. The first-tier of fighters can choose to remain under the Ali protection. The second-tier allows fighters to work under new guidelines set by White.
Several fans and enthusiasts view this as a power move, making White the ultimate decision-maker. It is similar to what is currently seen by some as the reason MMA fighters don’t make more than boxers. Hence, the reason famous MMA fighters like Conor McGregor, Anderson Silva, and Francis Ngannou transitioned to boxing for career paydays.
White is disrespecting the history and lineage of the four major sanctioning bodies’ belts. Some of the greatest all-time Hall of Fame fighters held those belts. Not to mention, The Ring should be ashamed of themselves if they go along with this because that belt represents the top fighter of the division. So, how does winning the Zuffa Belt, which has no lineage, make them a top fighter?
