Danny Garcia Responds to Crawford Saying He Needs a Payday

Multi-divisional champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (37-3, 21KO) has fired back at two-divisional undisputed champion Terence “Bud” Crawford, making it clear that he’s not chasing a fight with Bud for money.

During an interview with Fight Hub TV, Garcia was asked about the possibility of a showdown with Crawford and responded:

“I think it’s possible, but it’s more on my end because we do have history. We fought twice in the amateurs. So it’s like we got history . . . I definitely got the name, but when I’m fighting somebody, I want to win. I’m not just coming for a check.”

As previously reported by 3kingboxing.com, Bud expressed his frustrations about trying to secure fights with big names under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, with Garcia being one of the fighters he called out. Swift wasted no time responding to his amateur rival’s words by reminding Crawford that he has been making big money.

It’s worth noting that Garcia hasn’t fought at welterweight since his 2020 bout against Spence. His most recent fight took place in the junior middleweight division against Jose Benavidez Jr in July 2022.

Despite this, his number six ranking by the WBA at middleweight has led to the organization’s announcement of a fight with WBA Regular champion Erislandy Lara. As of the writing of this article, their fight has yet to come to fruition.
