Demetrius Andrade Wants Caleb Plant Next
Contrary to popular belief, super middleweight boxer Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-1, 19 KO’s) is eager to get back to action. True to himself though, as he shakes off his loss to David Benavidez, Andrade still is only scouting dance dates with the best. Outside of unified super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Boo Boo believes that interim WBA 168-pound champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (23-2, 14 KO’s) is the man to beat.
This is precisely why Sweethands is in his crosshairs again. Andrade was provided a mic to air out his thoughts more thoroughly during a recent appearance on Mills City Boxing.
“I definitely want to be at 168, trying to get a Plant fight, I think that is the best fight to be made in boxing…I believe that Plant is one of the best fighters out there and we both had a common fighter. I was like why not make this fight happen? […] I think Plant is the best 168 out there and for me it’s like why not fight the best 168-pounder out there.”
THE SANDS OF TIME
Clearly, Plant would enter the duel in a much more favorable position armed with the interim WBA title and fresh exciting win over Trevor McCumby. Even more detrimental, Andrade is not listed in any of the four major sanctioning bodies’ top 15 rankings. Even while bearing this in mind, Plant versus Andrade is a good fight and should make for a fun clash of styles.
With Boo Boo in the twilight of his career, time is of the essence and his requirement to please the crowd has never been more intense. So with the balance of power being what it is, we’ll have to see what Plant feels about this dance partner and if he’s willing to sign-up. Hopefully, we will hear something sooner rather than later.
