Jose Valenzuela Decimates De Los Santos and Challenges Shakur Stevenson

In his latest prizefight, lightweight contender Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela (16-3, 10 KO’s) collected a very fulfilling victory. Valenzuela pulled this off by stopping Edwin “La Grenada” De Los Santos (17-3, 15 KO’s) by way of a knee-liquifying second-round knockout. This was an especially gratifying win due to his having lost to De Los Santos by third round knockout back on September 4, 2022.

With the count evened up, it is natural to wonder if the two fighters would mix up one more time. For his part, Rayo was not interested in staging a rubber match with De Los Santos. Yet, while he shut down one potential duel, Valenzuela did express who he sought face next.

“I want Shakur Stevenson! He is a hell of a fighter; I would love to compete with him. Styles make fights. I am a real fighter, and he is a boxer and I believe his kryptonite is a fighter like me!”

At the moment, WBO junior welterweight champion Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KO’s) is in heated negotiations with WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KO’s). Haney versus Stevenson would by far be the bigger and most lucrative of the two selections. We will simply have to wait and see what is next for Shakur Stevenson and Jose Valenzuela!
