Errol Spence Seeks to Prove his Superiority Over Terence Crawford on Fight Night

Assured and composed were the words to describe unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) during the Los Angeles, California kickoff press conference for the July 29 welterweight unification showdown with WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs). Spence has no doubts that he will prove superior to Crawford, mentally and physically.

I MUST BREAK YOU

Speaking to the press afterward, Spence said July 29 cannot get here fast enough. He gave the WBO champion his respect. But once the bell rings, The Truth plans to prove that he’s better than Crawford across the board.

“He’s definitely going to try to fight. If you know Terence Crawford’s mentality, he’s definitely going to try to fight. He’s definitely gonna put on a great show and do the best of his ability if you know his mentality.

But I’m just a superior fighter. I’m going to break him physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, everything. I’m just gonna break his will.”

He’s facing a fighter that’s one of the elite fighters in the sport. His skill level and ring smarts are unparalleled. One of Crawford’s best assets is his counterpunching ability. But Spence is not fazed. He said the tons of experience gained during his amateur and professional career has prepared him to deal with the uber-talented WBO champion.

But Spence is a fighter with excellent overall boxing skills in his own right. The Texas native has a good jab and underrated ring intelligence. Those attributes are part of a punishing and physical fighting style. He often punishes opponents and breaks their spirits.

Crawford has said he’s coming to dominate Spence and take his respect. Spence warned that talk is cheap. He plans to bring the pain and leave as the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

“The body can only take so much, and the mind can only take so much, too. He really going to have to show not only his greatest. He’s going to have to show his legendary status come fight night because I’m in the breaking business.

I’m going to break you both, mentally and physically. So, we’ll see if he can take it.”
