Tyson Fury: “I don’t want to just walk away after two more fights”
When it comes to WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO’s), there is no doubt that he is one unpredictable character. Whether he is talking crazy, dressing like Batman or unexpectedly retiring from the sport, there is just no telling what the Gypsy King will do next. Just earlier this year, Fury was consistently telling the press that he was once again eyeing retirement.
Feeling that he’d accomplished all that he needed to in the sport, once his contract with Top Rank had expired, he was seriously considering hanging up the gloves for good.
Regardless of those past sound-bytes, Fury is now stating that not only does he harbor no desire to stop fighting, he now doesn’t see an end in sight, as he shared on a live feed streaming from his social media page.
“I am coming to the end of me contract with Top Rank, I got two more fights with those guys and I want to renew it! I don’t want to just walk away after two more fights, I’m 31 years old.
“Like Billy King said, the man who helped with us deal with ESPN and Top Rank, he said ‘better get out the dumper truck and reverse it back up to Tyson Fury’s bank account because that is what he is going to need!’ I want to get that big, big major fight deal.”
SIMPLE GAME PLAN
Obviously, hearing that he wants to remain in competition is great news for all those fans of the nimble heavyweight boxer. Remaining as confident and bombastic as ever, Fury was only too happy to inform his fellow big men that there was likely little that they can do to stop him in the ring.
“I’ve already told Wilder, I’ve told Joshua, I’ve told Ortiz, Dillian Whyte, I’ve told Klitschko, I’ve told everybody from my era the only way to beat the Gypsy King is to flatten me so I cant get back up!…it’s very, very simple land on me old chin and keep me down. Not so easy! [singing] I get knocked down but I get up again, you’re never going to keep me down!”
Clearly, the jubilant Tyson Fury is going to remain a polarizing and colorful character as long as he remains in the public eye.
