Gervonta Davis says that Ryan Garcia is next!
Well it looks like Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (21-0, 18 KO’s) is going to get the bout that he wants. In his last outing, Garcia scored a seventh round stoppage of UK boxer Luke Campbell (20-4, 16 KO’s). Not only was it an impressive step-up bout, KingRy picked up the interim WBC world lightweight title in the process. As a result, he was made the mandatory for WBC world lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (25-0, 15 KO’s).
With Garcia as the mandatory challenger, the WBC is expected to order the fight between him and Haney in the next few days. However, what KingRy truly craves is a showdown with ‘regular’ WBA world lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (24-0, 23 KO’s). Following the Campbell fight, Garcia and the crowd at hand emphatically endorsed that showdown. Now it appears that he will get what he was looking for! In a recently deleted tweet, Davis seriously insinuated that a bout with Garcia was forthcoming.
“Lol, when I ever been a bitch?! You know who you talked to ten minutes before ya ring walk. The fight already been made…now…shut up and get ready!”

AIMING FOR GLORY
Whenever in front of a camera, KingRy has been anything but bashful and this does not seem likely to change! On the topic of Tank, Garcia remains confident and extremely optimistic. Despite taking seven rounds to stop Campbell, and getting dropped himself, KingRy believes he will dispatch of Davis in much quicker fashion. He also had no problem telling TMZ how he felt about the matter.
“I don’t have time for celebrations. I’m on one mission. I’m on a mission to knock out Gervonta Davis in 2 rounds…This man will go down. 2 rounds – that’s a promise!
…This is the fight. [Anthony] Joshua needs to fight Fury and I need to fight Gervonta. That’s it! We need to get this on. I’m going for it! This is it.”
~ Ryan Garcia
Without question, that will be a tough order to fill. To this point in his career, Davis has not been down or even seriously buzzed in the ring. While Garcia does have some pop in his punches, Tank appears to be the much more damaging striker of the two. Therefore, if KingRy plans on simply walking through the regular WBA champion, he will have to go through seriously dangerous territory to do so!
Yet, no matter how it plays out in the ring, it should be a great time for the fans. In fact, the only person who probably wants to vomit over this brewing dust-up is Devin Haney. If the prizefight with Garcia and Davis is made a reality next, Haney will have lost yet another opportunity to snag a marquee fight that he is desperate for.
