Michael Hunter v Filip Hrgovic Purse Bid Won By Eddie Hearn
IBF number four ranked contender Michael “The Bounty” Hunter (19-1-1, 13KOs) will face off with number five ranked contender Filip Hrgovic (12-0, 10KOs). Their bout will determine the IBF’s next heavyweight mandatory challenger. Promoter Eddie Hearn announced he had won the purse bid on his Twitter account. The winner will assume the position of the next challenger for unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, likely in 2022. That is, assuming he is successful against Tyson Fury.
This all comes after the IBF ordered the two men to start negotiations for a fight back in February, which we originally reported on.

Hunter, a versatile yet smaller heavyweight, has displayed hand speed, power and reflexes on his way up the rankings. His most significant fight at heavyweight came against the aging former WBA regular champion Alexander Povetkin. In that fight, he started off fast. He hurt his Russian counterpart before seemingly hitting a brick wall and having to fight tooth and nail just to secure a draw back in 2019.
His opponent, Filip Hrgovic, is a 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist. This will be by far the biggest fight of his very young career. The 6’6 Croatian fighter possesses fight-ending power and a significant height advantage. All in all, this is a very good fight between fighters looking secure a future world title opportunity.
There is no date or location set for this fight as of this reporting. 3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
