Does Julian Willams Have Enough Left to Overcome Rolando Mansilla?

For the first time in just over one calendar year, super welterweight fighter Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-3-1, 16 KO’s) will return to action. In that next tour of duty, on November 5, Williams will test his wits against Rolando “Peligro” Mansilla (18-11-1, 8 KO’s).

By this selection it certainly appears that Team Williams is looking for a bit of softer touch in this ring return. While both fighters are coming off of back-to-back losses, Mansilla is 4-6 in his last ten outings. Although, he is far more active than J-Rock as their duel will be his fourth fight this year.

ROCKY RETURN EQUALS DAMNING CONSEQUENCES

If Williams were to lose or perform poorly against Mansilla, it is likely to have dire consequences for his future in the sport. Once a proud unified champion, J-Rock has been all but a ghost in the division since his last at bat. During that contest, Williams dropped a stunning split decision upset loss to Vladimir Hernandez. That deflating loss came directly after losing his trio of titles to Jeison Rosario in his first defense of the belts.

So we will have to see how much Williams has left to offer, physically and mentally. After residing at such lofty heights in the division, J-Rock has plummeted from the rankings and is rarely, if ever, mentioned when talking about the major players at super welterweight. Therefore, it’s imperative that not only does Williams win his next prizefight, he must do it impressively! Yet, no matter how that duel resolves itself, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news.
