Erislandy Lara Continues Knockout Streak Against Michael Zerafa
Without breaking much of a sweat, the ageless wonder and WBA middleweight champion “The American Dream” Erislandy Lara (30-3-3, 18KO) made quick work of challenger Michael “Pretty Boy” Zerafa (31-5, 19KO).
The American Dream, turning 41 years old, was last in the ring in May 2022. Yet, he looked sharp from the opening bell with the jab and straight left hand. Sitting down on his punches more in the second half of his career, Lara landed a punishing left hand that dropped Pretty Boy like a sack of potatoes.
Although he would get up, Zerafa stumbled into the corner, which prompted the referee to stop the fight in the second round. It was another impressive showing for the WBA champion, who is on a three-fight knockout streak.
What comes next for the champion could be a unification with unified champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. He could look for a big-money fight with multi-divisional champion Danny “Swift” Garcia.
One thing is for certain: this version of Lara is fun to watch.
