Judges Denies Moises Caro The Win Over Elwin Soto
Controversially, one-time WBO light flyweight champion Elwin “La Pulga” Soto (21-3-1, 13KO) vs Mosies “El Profeta” Caro (11-3-4, 5KO) produced no winners.
In the early rounds, Caro’s movement, fast hands, and ring generalship surprised La Pulga. He used the jab perfectly before sliding left or right to avoid any return-fire. With each passing round, El Profeta’s confidence kept growing.
Soto adjusted by coming forward and attacking the body, looking to slow down Caro. He started to find a home for those hooks and uppercuts whenever the two men were in close.
Yet, Caro went back to moving, keeping the fight in the center of the ring and landing the more eye-catching shots. It didn’t matter what he got hit with, Caro returned fire throwing three and four-punch combinations.
In the closing rounds, Soto fought like a man who knew he was losing and came forward in attack mode. However, his lack of head movement provided target practice for Caro’s right hand and countershots.
One judge saw it 97-93 for Soto, while one had it 96-94 for Caro. The last judge scored it 95-95 as the fight ended in a disappointing draw. 3Kingsboxing scored it for Caro 97-93.
