Omari Jones Decisions Christian Gomez
For his second bout of the year, highly touted super welterweight prospect Omari “Banger” Jones (6-0, 4 KO’s) cruised to wide a UD in his hometown. When the cards were read, Jones prevailed over Christian “Nonite” Gomez (23-7-1, 21 KO’s) to the tune of 80-72.
Despite the brevity of his professional ledger, Jones is proving to be a very capable and mature fighter. This was evidenced in his relatively easy handling of Gomez, who entered the match with five times his experience. Regardless, once in the ring, it was Jones who appeared to be the far more seasoned fighter.
On the other side of this battle, Jones was happy with his efforts. Although, while eager to get back into action, he did not call out any particular fighter. Given his youth and immense skill, there is little doubt that Banger will be back in action sooner rather than later.
