Regis Prograis Responds to Maurice Hooker

British promoter Eddie Hearn went live during the pandemic lock-down conducting a fighter Q&A segment to keep morale up with fans. Furthermore, fighters used the time to speak their minds, and former WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (27-1-3 18ko) did just that.

Mighty Mo was scheduled to face former WBA champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (24-1, 20ko), although the fight was cancelled like many due to the current COVID-19 crisis. However, the bad blood is still there and according to Rougarou, despite having one loss, “this is a make or break type of fight.”

During the live conversation with the vocal British promoter, Hooker said he wants to “Shut this guy up cause he talks too much”. Those are very strong words and as we all know, anything said on social media spreads like wildfire.

Rougarou, of course, caught wind of this and immediately responded with an eye-catching post on Instagram. He posted the beat-down and first career defeat the former Texas champion suffered at the hands of unified champion Jose Carlos Ramirez (25-0, 17ko) back in the summer of 2019.

Prograis didn’t stop there, making it clear of what will happen when they finally meet and took a hard jab at the fact Mighty Mo got beat in front of the home crowd.

While boxing is down on points, there is hope the sport will start to regain momentum and get back to normal. Furthermore, when things go back to being business as usual, this is one fight that needs to still happen.

Both former champions still have an ax to grind with each other, and the ring has always been the only place where all the talk will come to an end.
