Ricardo Sanvodal Easily Decisions Saleto Henderson
After serving his last tour of duty versus Saleto Henderson (26-2, 18 KO’s), flyweight contender Ricardo “El Nino” Sandoval (10-2, 7 KO’s) emerged with a unanimous decision victory. To his credit, Henderson opened the duel very effectively using his feet to dart in, strike and slip out of most danger. Along with his quick wheels, he owned a pair of fast hands that he put to good use.
The taller, longer and seemingly stronger Sandoval was initially troubled by his evasive foe. About the third and fourth rounds however, El Nino made it a much more physical bout by tying Henderson up more. The tactic managed to curtail a great deal of Henderson’s movement. Once done, while competitive, Sandoval was able to clearly dominate Henderson in a fast-paced contest.
Despite unloading a substantial amount of artillery and possibly buzzing Henderson several times, Sandoval could not stop or even floor him. Therefore, when the duel went to the cards, El Nino was awarded the win by way of unanimous decision to the tune of 98-92, 100-90 (twice).
