Jeison Rosario upsets Julian “J-Rock” Williams!

Making the first defense of his newly acquired unified world titles the man known as Julian “J Rock” Williams would face the same fate of past adversary and fellow former unified junior middleweight champion Jarrett “Swift” Hurd!

Coming into his fight with Jeison Rosario, Williams was a heavy favorite. However, as the two men came together to start the first round, the most notable difference was the size of the challenger. He seemed to be much bigger than Williams.

The first round started off very promising as Williams looked sharp and was crisp with his punches, in particular the right hand. However, he seemed a bit uneasy, as if he wasn’t yet warmed up. As a result, he displayed openings that Rosario would soon exploit in the next few rounds.

Well to be frank, it would be the next round where the challenger would benefit from precisely reading the champion. Hard shots from Rosario would open a cut over the left eye of Williams. The champ would later confess that this would blur his vision, which resulted in him taking the beating that was to come!

As the action continued both men would wage battle from a distance and in close quarters with both men giving as good as they took.

Then comes round five! A short shot in close would start the demise and short lived title reign for Williams. He would get pummeled by the powerful Rosario, who would throw everything including the kitchen sink.

Although the knockdown could have been attributed more to fatigue than damage taken, Williams would recover only to have more punishment was awaiting him.

Rosario jumped in with a lead uppercut that knocked Williams senseless. Following would be a barrage of shots that resulted resulting in referee Benjy Esteves Jr stopping the bout!

The Philly fans would go crazy as many of them began to throw items around the arena in dismay of the stoppage. Although in reality, the stoppage was an excellent one as Williams was getting completely beaten up!

Rosario (20-1, 14KOs) is now the new unified junior middleweight champion of the world! This is a devastating blow for Williams who has now been stopped twice in his career.

Obviously a rematch is in play as one figures Williams would like to attempt a shot redemption yet again! This has really shook up the junior middleweight division as it seems there is no clear distinction on who the best fighter is.

Not one month into the new year and 2020 has already produced a major upset!
