Ryan Garcia Eyes a Prizefight with Teofimo Lopez

Junior welterweight “King” Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19KO) has set his sights on facing some of the biggest names in the division. However, a potential clash with two-division champion Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez (19-1, 13KO) intrigues him the most.

While gearing up for his return to the ring against Oscar Duarte, the Californian engaged with the media at a press conference.

Garcia detailed why a bout with Lopez holds greater appeal than a rematch with Gervonta Davis or a showdown with unified lightweight champion Devin Haney.

“I’m interested in all of them. You always want to run it back when you take a loss. Also, Devin Haney, we have a long history in the amateurs.”

CRAZY TALK SELLS!

Garcia went on to explain his fascination with Teofimo Lopez.

“Teofimo, he could talk his ass off, and his Dad too, so that would be crazy. You know, I think Teofimo interests me a lot ’cause I just think that the whole lead-up is going to be crazy, cause his pops.”

This interest in a showdown with Lopez comes as no surprise. They both have been linked as potential opponents for a highly anticipated clash in 2024. Boxing enthusiasts have longed to see these two warriors face off since they were competing in the lightweight division.

On June 10, Lopez cemented his status as a two-division champion by capturing the WBO title from Josh Taylor.

The promise of significant developments on the horizon for next year. All eyes will be on Garcia come December 2.
