Claressa Shields seeks to become a two division undisputed world champion when she takes on Marie-Eve Dicaire!

The self-proclaimed “GWOAT” of women’s boxing and WBC and WBO junior middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 2KOs) will return to the ring on March 5 in her hometown of Flint, Michigan. There, she will take on IBF champion Marie-Eve Dicaire (17-0). The fight will be for the right to be crowned the 154-pound women’s undisputed champion. While Shields and Dicaire hold three of the four belts, the WBA title is vacant, as is the ring magazine title. This battle of undefeated champions will headline an all-women’s fight card and will air on Fitetv pay-per-view.

If victorious, this would make Shields a two-division undisputed world champion. She was undisputed middleweight champion from 2019 to 2020 after defeating Christina Hammer (26-1, 12KOs) by unanimous decision. Neither woman has been overly active in the squared circle over the past year primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shields last fought on January 10, 2020, easily out-pointing Ivana Habazin (20-4, 7KOs) to win the vacant WBC and WBO junior middleweight titles. As for Dicaire, she has been even more inactive. She last fought in November of 2019, where she easily outpointed Ogleidis Suarez (30-4-1, 14KOs) to defend her IBF title.

An interesting note is that in twenty-seven combined fights, the knockout percentage is a whopping 20 percent. The only two KO’s between the two come from the fists of Shields. It is safe to say this fight is likely to go the distance.

With another possible undisputed title added to her resume, will Shields’ star start to shine brighter than ever before? We will all have to wait and find out come March 5.
