Team Haney Hungry for Big Fights in All Neighboring Divisions!
In his next professional prizefight, lightweight fighter Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15 KO’s) will compete for the first time as an undisputed champion. In that bout, he will face the challenge of “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KO’s) for the second time. This is because it was Kambosos who Haney, 23, schooled in order to gain possession of all the belts in the first place.
Prior to owning all the belts, but still holding the WBC title, The Dream had considerable trouble getting the bigger names in the ring. Now, armed with the boxing equivalent to the infinity gauntlet, Haney hopes to get all the juicy duels he’s been craving. In fact, during a recent interview with Fight Hype, Bill Haney, Devin’s father and chief second, put extra emphasis on how badly they want the crème of the crop.
“Every time that you see Devin, you are going to see a fighter who is getting better and better and better! He is not even in his prime and he is one of the top fighters in the world, to me. He is one of the top fighters. We need the opportunity to prove that and as soon as we handle this business with George Kambosos on October 16, inshallah, anybody can get it!
And I want everyone to double down on everything that you done said. Don’t try to back out of it! Everybody that done called for him, everybody that said something, when we finish this business, you got action!”
SHOOTING FOR THE STARS
Going a step further, as they have become accustomed to doing, Bill Haney took the time to chronicle a list of sought after opposition.
“We want to make the best fight happen! Loma [Vasiliy Lomachenko], Shakur [Stevenson], it don’t matter! Really it doesn’t matter! Teofimo Lopez, Regis Prograis, whoever in or around his division!”
If everything goes the way that they feel that things could, the elder Haney has lofty ambitions for his world champion son. Whether or not they achieve their grandest objectives, let’s just hope that we get a few of these meaningful match-ups!
“Devin can be the first fighter to hold an undisputed in both weight classes!”
