Teofimo Lopez declares he’ll Knock out Devin Haney!

As the lightweight division continues to heat up, so does the anticipation of a fight that would determine who is numero uno in the 135-pound division. Despite what WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán said about unified lightweight champion Teofimo “El Brooklyn” Lopez (16-0, 12KOs) being undisputed champion, it is simply not true. While he does have a WBC belt, it is not the legitimate one. It is the franchise belt that was created by Sulaimán in 2019.

The holder of the real WBC title at 135 is Devin “The Dream” Haney (25-0, 15KOs). Both Lopez and Haney have gone back and forth throughout social and even on personal calls talking about their potential fight. These young guys both have exceptional skills and are in a position to carry boxing on their backs collectively. However, to further to push their legacies and resumes forward, along with the sport of boxing as a whole, they must step into the ring together.

With more success comes more recognition and people looking to take your sport. That is the position that Lopez finds himself in currently. Haney is hellbent on fighting the Brooklyn native sooner rather than later. The unified champ, however, wants the WBC champion to show and prove his worth. That did not stop Lopez from sending another message to Haney letting him know what is in store for him when the two finally meet!

Speaking to Fight Hub Tv, Lopez made clear his plans for Haney when they fight.

“I’ll knock him out! I just can’t stand him, I have to. I can’t go out like that, you know what I mean.”

MAKE THE DAMN FIGHT ALREADY!

While it is cool to talk trash, at some point you have to just get in the ring and fight! This constant talk and putting out demands is beyond played out. It is a business and I get that, but at the end of the day, if you really want the fight and everyone around does too, a fair deal that will make all parties involved satisfied can be reached. The only fight these guys need to be in is against each other.
