Teofimo Lopez Sr says they will unify lightweight in one night

One of the biggest fights that have the boxing community in a buzz is unified lightweight champion Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-1, 10ko) and IBF champion Teofimo “El Brooklyn” Lopez (15-0, 12ko).

These two Top Rank lightweight champions were originally set to meet in September. Now, in a recent interview with3kingsboxing and Pep Talk UK, trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr. has confirmed the fight will take place October 3, 2020.

Furthermore, for a long time, both Sr. and his son have made it clear they want to fight arguably the top pound for pound unified champion. The IBF champion has maintained the confidence that he is Hi-Tech’s worst nightmare.

TAKING ALL THE BELTS

During the interview, Lopez Sr. revealed some interesting news about speaking with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman.

“When my son beats Loma, and the way we are going to beat him, he’s the best at 135lb and the first one to ever unify four titles in one night at the 135 weight division.”

“I don’t want anyone telling me my son is only going to get three belts. We getting four baby, and we are going to have them right there cause Mauricio told me he’s going to give him the WBC belt as soon as we drop Loma.”

If these events were to transpire, it would be a huge contradiction according to previous explanations by the WBC President. Supposedly, the Franchise belt couldn’t change hands regardless if a fight is lost in the ring.

Lopez Sr. would also go even further in-depth about the conversation, answering on if they are indeed going to receive the Franchise title.

“I don’t know what he is going to give me bro, but I am going to get that WBC belt. Whatever Lomachenko has, it is going to be ours.”

“I told him, ‘You don’t make no sense Mauricio. How are we going to knock this dude out in three, four or five rounds and then you’re going to have him there like a champion? That’s a disgrace’.”

“He told me ‘you know, you’re right,’ and that’s why we are in negotiations about that too ’cause we want that included in the package.”
