Tim Tszyu Confident on Swiping the Undisputed Crown from Jermell Charlo
WBO junior middleweight mandatory Tim Tszyu (22-0, 16KO) is patiently waiting for his opportunity to fight undisputed champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO). He is confident that Iron Man’s decline will result in the crowning of a new undisputed champion.
3kingsboxing.com reported that Tszyu will take another stay-busy fight while waiting on the junior middleweight champion to fully recover from a hand injury. It seems a new opponent and date has been provided, as news is circulating that the Aussie will face former welterweight title challenger Carlos Ocampo on June 18.
TIM TSZYU IS LOOKING TO DETHRONE JERMELL CHARLO
Tszyu believes the only fight in the division that is worth talking about is between him and Charlo. During an interview with Fight Hub TV, he seemed extremely confident when asked about the champion possibly not taking him seriously.
“There is only one fight in the super welterweight division people are talking about and that’s me and Charlo. You know we are the two at the very top right now. He’s at the top, he’s got all the marbles. But I’m sitting behind him just waiting – waiting patiently for that one opportunity.”
“Once that opportunity presents itself, there’ll be a new king in the division . . . the decline of the Charlo, the fall and the rise of someone new.”
In his last outing, the Australian defeated former world champion Tony “Super Bad” Harrison in the ninth round. Immediately following the victory, he delivered a strong message to the champion.
Tszyu is doing the right thing by staying busy and keeping sharp to prevent ring rust from settling in. Furthermore, he is increasing in experience and confidence level with each victory.
