Oleksandr usyk and Dereck Chisora to finally fight in October!
Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13KOs) and former heavyweight title challenger Dereck “War” Chisora (32-9, 23KOs) may finally square off on October 24.
The two were originally set to meet on May 23. However, the bout was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, months later, the two men appear to have a set date for their intriguing heavyweight clash.
Usyk, one of boxing’s top pound for pound fighters, is the WBO mandatory challenger and will go into this fight as the favorite. Chisora has shared the ring with the likes of former heavyweight champions Vitali Klitschko, David Haye and current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. He has a wealth of experience to go along with some respectable punching power.
It’ll be interesting to see how Usyk fares, as this is intended to be a prelude to his title opportunity against unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21KOs) in 2021.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates once an official confirmation is announced.
