Vasyl Lomachenko says Teofimo Lopez just got lucky

Three-divisional champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-2, 10ko) is having a hard time dealing with the defeat he suffered to unified champion Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez (16-0, 12ko) on October 17.

Lomachenko caught heavy criticism for saying the loss to Lopez is the result of the judges being bribed. Equally important, this was said on his own official YouTube channel translated from his native Ukrainian language.

CROSSING THE LINE

While being interviewed by iFL TV, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was asked about his thoughts, and he did not hold back.

“They are as stupid as the comments that Wilder made about how he lost to Tyson Fury; that somehow Fury loaded the gloves, and that his own corner put stuff in his water.”

Arum went deeper, breaking down the scorecards and how his fighter stepped out of bounds crying bribery.

“Julie Letterman, who’s certainly a very honest person, she was off on that fight only giving Lomachenko one round. But all the judges are high type people, and I think everybody watching that fight, whichever way they scored it, felt that Lopez clearly won the fight.”

“So I think those comments are completely out of line for Lomachenko, and when I talk to him, I will tell him that.”

CHANGE OF TONE IN THE STORY

Lomachenko wants to clear up any misinterpretation. During an interview with Ring Magazine, he quickly corrected the error.

“I didn’t say that the judges were bribed. I said that they were not being objective, and they were being biased. They were not being objective in my personal opinion after I saw the scorecards, I knew the judges were against me.”

This time, to make sure there are no mistakes, the translator was manager Egis Klimas.

Hi-tech expressed the inability to throw the jab, hooks, or any other type of punch due to a bad right shoulder. The injury was later operated on after the fight.

In addition, the former world champion had a serious statement for Lopez.

“I would like the rematch with Lopez, and if he’s saying if we fought one hundred times and he would win one hundred times, then prove it. If he thinks he’s a real champion by this fight, which he just got lucky, then fight me again.”
