Nico Ali Walsh remains undefeated in second pro bout
Middleweight fighter Nico Ali Walsh (2-0, 2 KO’s) kept his family honor and unblemished record in tact in his most recent dustup. Walsh managed this by beating James Westley II (1-1 KO) by way of third round TKO win in his second professional prizefight. His previous bout was only a short four months prior. Trained by the infamous Sugar Hill Steward, chief second to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, Ali believes that he can do great things in the sport.
Walsh started the bout attempting to acclimate himself from behind his jab. Yet it was Westley’s right hook to the head and body that dominated the first minute of action. Over the next two minutes, Walsh steadily took the lead even though the bout was becoming sloppier and sloppier.
For the first two minutes of the second round, Walsh did little else outside of getting nailed with right hooks and right uppercuts. With the coming of the final minute though, Walsh’s offense began coming alive. Then in the last ten seconds of the period, Walsh dropped Westley with a picture perfect straight right down the pipe. Westley beat the count on shaky legs.
Near immediately, Walsh dumped Westley on the canvas with another straight right at the top of the third period. Despite making it to his feet, Westley’s corner quickly scrambled to the ring apron and called the bout off before their charge could resume action. While it was not the smoothest victory, this was a great win for Nico Ali Walsh.
