The WBC follows suit; reinstates Dillian Whyte!

It has been a rollercoaster ride over the past five months for WBC Interim titlist Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (27-1, 18ko). After being cleared by United Kingdom Anti Doping Agency (UKAD) of any wrong doing, it became apparent the WBC organization was on the clock.

The British heavyweight was sited for a drug infraction by the British testing agency three days before the scheduled showdown with Oscar “Kaboom” Rivas. Furthermore, UKAD, upon meeting with both Whyte and promoter Eddie Hearn, granted permission for the fight to continue.

Whyte would go on to win the fight and claim the Interim title along with the mandatory position to finally get a shot at WBC champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder.

However, after learning of the infraction, the WBC stepped in with concerns and suspended the Interim titlist upon review.

REDEMPTION

The WBC publicly announced via social media with a very important tweet concerning the status of the British heavyweight.

WBC Lifts Dillian Whyte's Ban
The WBC announces Dillian Whyte’s ban has been lifted.

That’s not even the best part. On the actual WBC website it makes a profound statement.

“Consistent with the WBC Board of Governors’ Ruling at last October’s 57th WBC Annual Convention, Interim Champion Whyte shall become the Mandatory Challenger of the division immediately after Champion Deontay Wilder’s mandatory defense against current Mandatory Challenger Tyson Fury, with the mandatory defense against Whyte being due on or about February of 2021.”

This means that once again a world title opportunity is within reach. Given the recent comments made by the WBC champ of wanting to “187” Whyte, the war of words have only just begun.

There is a long documented history of disdain both men share for each other and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
