Chris Colbert Promises to Completely Exit Boxing with his Youth and Health

It’s no mystery that the sport of boxing is as brutal as they come. On a regular basis, men and women are bruised, bloodied and knocked out cold in the pursuit of this craft. Unfortunately, even death is a common and accepted toll paid for those who adhere to this deadly occupation. When viewed under this lens, it’s easy to see why super lightweight boxer Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-0, 6 KO’s) has his mind set on leaving the ring in one piece. As he explained to Brian Custer on the Last Stand Podcast, chucking knuckles is not something meant to be done for the long term.

“I just don’t want to be boxing long, this ain’t a fun sport to do. It’s not even a sport; sports you play, you don’t play this! It’s two gladiators in the ring fighting for your life. You can die in this ring. We done seen it happen, so I ain’t trying to be in here for too long and taking unnecessary punishment at an old age, nah. I want to be able to hang out with my kids, talk to my kids and have fun with my kids.”

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

On Saturday, February 26, Colbert will test his might with the undefeated Dominican fighter Hector “El Droide” Garcia (14-0, 10 KO’s). Naturally, Primetime can’t fathom a reality in which Garcia will overcome him in the squared-circle or even provide that much of an overt challenge.

With this being the case, the brash Brooklynite still has his eyes glued to his own future. Yet, Colbert is so adamant about securing major names and title fights because his true overall objective is to get out of the game at a fairly young age.

“I am still working on setting up my life but it comes with the territory. I’m only twenty-five years old so I want to be out of here by thirty-two and I will be great! I promise you, and when I leave, y’all ain’t gonna never see me back! Don’t even call me to commentate because I might not come.”

Before he can ride off into that glorious sunset, Colbert must first hop the human hurdle named Hector Garcia. So, first let’s see how Primetime, ranked #1 (WBA), handles his business in his next dust up. Regardless of the outcome however, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news!
