Gervonta Davis Suggests He May Quit Boxing Amid Recent Troubles

WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25KO) is having a rough couple of days. The entire boxing community went into a frenzy after learning about his December 27 arrest for domestic battery in Florida. Now it seems his waning desire to fight may also prevent the upcoming title defense against Hector Luis Garcia (16-0-3, 10KO) from happening.

In an attempt to tell his side of the story in a since-deleted post, Davis took to social media with a lengthy statement surrounding the current state of events. Now the talk within the boxing community is whether or not Showtime goes forward with the fight or decides to postpone it in light of the current situation.

TANK HINTS AT WALKING AWAY

As if things were not bad enough, Tank is letting the outside distractions mess with his head. The most recent post is undoubtedly disturbing as he has insinuated about walking away from the sport.

Gervonta Davis says he no longer wants to fight

Davis’ fight with Garcia is to help build toward a major showdown against arch-rival Ryan Garcia later in 2023. The rivalry has been playing out on social media over the last couple of years. However, fans are growing worrisome about Tank’s future given the recent chain of events.

Things are beginning to spiral out of control fast for the multi-divisional champion. Hopefully, he can regain focus and defuse this situation, if the Garcia fight is to happen on January 7, 2023, as planned.
