Gervonta Davis Released On Bail and Calling Bullshit On Battery Charges!
3Kings Boxing previously reported that WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) was arrested on December 27 in Broward County, Florida, and charged with domestic battery. Following his release on bail and troublesome allegations starting to circulate, Tank dropped a social media post to counter the running narrative.

After being jailed overnight, Davis was released on a $1000 bond in the early afternoon of December 28. Local authority records claim that the 28-year-old struck an unidentified woman in the face with a closed hand at his residence in south Florida, causing a small cut on the inside of her upper lip. Adding to the drama, media outlet TMZ surfaced a damning 911 call from the alleged victim. The lightweight champ is disputing the events surrounding his arrest and has released the following statement via social media.
DECISIONS WILL HAVE TO BE MADE
Davis is to defend his lightweight belt against reigning WBA 130-pound Super champ Hector Luis Garcia (16-0-3, 10 KOs) on January 7, 2023, in Washington, DC. The question becomes: will that fight carry on?
During a December 28 media conference call for that January 2023 card, Davis – Garcia noticeably was not mentioned even though that match is scheduled to be the main event.
Tank’s last outing was a sixth-round stoppage win over Rolando “Rolly” Romero in May 2022. That bout was to happen in December 2021. But it was postponed and rescheduled after Romero was accused and later cleared of sexual assault allegations.
One is guessing that organizers and SHOWTIME are discussing whether they should let this fight continue or remove it from the card. This situation is far from being resolved, so stay tuned to 3Kings Boxing for more updates.
