Devin Haney v Jo Jo Diaz may finally happen
It seems the drama surrounding WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (26-0, 15ko) and Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz (32-1-1, 15ko) could result in a fight being announced.
There is no short version of this story, for it has been a long, grueling process. Diaz won the WBC Interim title along with the mandatory status that came with it after defeating Javier Fortuna.

Jo Jo was looked at as a breath of fresh air in comparison to Ryan Garcia, who shifted gears and tried to pursue fights with both Gervonta Davis and Manny Pacquiao. Diaz immediately called for a match with Haney and had no problems negotiating in view of the public on social media.
“Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, let’s go. Let’s make it happen, baby! All you pussy ass fighters, get in here and fight!”
Diaz was not letting up. Even when Haney responded by questioning the motive for mentioning Garcia’s name, the WBC interim titlist clapped back hard.
“Shut yo goofy ass up, and let’s fight by the end of this year pussy.”
In the end, the fighters agreed to a fight in November. Diaz’s behavior was unlike his fellow Golden Boy Promotions stablemate, or at least that is what he led us to believe.
Shortly afterward, the WBC interim champion killed all the attaboys he had received by switching up and choosing to fight the former interim titlist, Garcia. Several fans were upset about the news as some felt Diaz, like fellow stablemate Garcia, was all bark and no bite.
IS THE FIGHT BACK ON AGAIN?
As faith would have it, the boxing god’s intervened with a little karma. Garcia had to pull out of the fight due to suffering an injury. By now, everyone knows what happened next! Haney put foot to gas in calling out Diaz again for a showdown in December.
Diaz accepted the challenge while indicating that Haney never sent a contract the last time.
“Contact MTKGlobal let’s do it, actually send the contract this time, bitch.”
The Dream was not going to let up this time and swiftly sent the contract. After a few days of silence, he went back to social media asking what’s the holdup.
“JosephDiazJr yo you gone sign the contract or what?”
The Interim titlist’s response raised an eyebrow within the boxing community.
“Yea waiting to get the new and improved one. Send it over to finalize tonight.”
So fans have been waiting to see what is going to happen. After several days of radio silence about the fight from both sides, Diaz dropped a cryptic message hinting the fight is on the way.
