Richardson Hitchins Willing To Give Gustavo Lemos A Rematch
As many fighters do, in his last prizefight, junior welterweight boxer Richardson Hitchins (18-0, 7 KO’s) had a rough night in the office. This tough time was provided by the ferocity and substantial gas tank of Gustavo “El Electrico” Lemos (29-1, 19 KO’s). In fact, despite walking away with a unanimous decision victory, there is a significant body of fans who believe that Hitchins lost.
To his credit, Hitchins has acknowledged this kickback and thus far is willing to address the controversy head-on. Via his social media, the Brooklyn native has expressed his availability to staging a rematch. Yet, only time will tell if this invitation to run it back is ironclad or simply tough talk for face-saving purposes.

Ranked #2 (WBC), #3 (WBO) and #3 (IBF), there is no question that Hitchins has his eyes on the big dogs with the belts. Champions such as Teofimo Lopez (WBO), Subriel Matias (IBF), Devin Haney (WBC) and Isaac Cruz (WBA) are all seemingly in his grasp. To underscore this, his duel with Lemos was a IBF final title eliminator.
Yet, the shakey performance against the relentless Argentinian bruiser has brought all of his big dreams into question. If Hitchins cannot hold his own with the likes of the essentially unknown Lemos, how will he navigate choppy waters when in against the division’s proven monsters? Inquiring minds want to know.
SHOW AND PROVE
Ideally, Hitchins remains true to his word and runs its back with Lemos. To begin, it was a fun, action-packed war of wills that had minimal slow points. Hitchins can buff out whatever tarnish is on his name and he can establish himself as a fighter who is willing to prove rather than just promise. Only time will tell what Hitchins does next. However, a needed opportunity at redemption is right within his grasp. For his own good, Richardson Hitchins should consider taking advantage!
