Edgar Berlanga Tells Diego Pacheco He Isn’t Yet Ready for Him
Top super middleweight contender Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga (22-0, 17KO) hit back at fellow stablemate Diego Pacheco (21-0, 17KO). In addition, he doesn’t believe that the Californian has fought anyone with his power and ring IQ.
It all started when Pacheco told Tha Boxing Voice what he thinks of The Chosen One.
“I think he’s a dirty fighter. I think he really doesn’t have that much skill . . . I feel like that chin is a little sus. So, I just feel like I’m levels ahead of him. I feel like, in a fight with me and him, I’d school him and make it look easy.”

After going ten hard rounds, Pacheco dug deep to pick up a unanimous decision against Shawn McCalman on April 6. During the post-fight interview, he expressed wanting to face someone in the top ten.
After witnessing the undefeated fighter struggle with an unknown in McCalman, Berlanga went on the attack on social media.
WILL THEY FIGHT?
After going five fights without scoring a knockout, Berlanga ended the drought in his last outing by stopping Padraig McCrory on February 24. With both fighters campaigning under the Matchroom Boxing umbrella, a fight should be easy to make.
Well, not so fast. The organization’s chairman, Eddie Hearn, admitted that Pacheco is not a big name yet and he’s high risk/low reward. So, Berlanga, who wants to fight undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, isn’t going to gamble his shot against the Californian.
Plus, as both guys’ promoter, it would be in Hearn’s best interest to build up both fighters, have them win some titles, and then make a huge fight down the road.
