Usyk Runs Over Dubois and Reclaims Heavyweight Dominance
Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) delivered a masterclass performance, scoring a fifth-round knockout in his rematch with Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) at Wembley Stadium in London, England. With the victory, Usyk once again became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, further solidifying his legacy as one of the finest fighters of his generation.
In their first encounter in August 2023, Dubois was competitive before being stopped in the eighth round. This time, however, Usyk left no doubt. The Ukrainian maestro controlled the action from the opening bell, using his precision jab and crisp combinations to systematically dismantle his opponent.
Dubois had no answers for the relentless assault of the unified champion. By round four, Usyk began sitting down on his punches, landing with increasing authority. In the fifth, he dropped Dubois twice—the final knockdown delivered via a devastating left hand to the chin with 1:52 remaining in the round.
AMONG THE VERY BEST
With this latest triumph, it’s fair — and necessary — to discuss Usyk’s historical standing. The answer: he is unequivocally an all-time great.
Now a three-time undisputed champion — once at cruiserweight and twice at heavyweight — Usyk has conquered two divisions by beating elite opposition and doing so with tactical brilliance. At 38, he remains undefeated and dominant. Currently ranked number one in the 3KingsBoxing.com Top Ten Fighter Rankings, Usyk has more than earned his place among the sport’s legends. Should he choose to retire today, Oleksandr Usyk would be a lock as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
