Radivoje Kalajdzic and William Foster III Earn Savage Stoppages!
In the light heavyweight division, Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic (28-2, 19KO) put on an impressive performance against Mickey “The Caveman” Ellison (14-5, 5KO).
After cruising in rounds one and two, Hot Rod went to work behind a power jab that was the story throughout the fight. It was obvious, he was a different fighter from the one who lost to title contender Marcus Browne and unified champion Artur Beterbiev.
Kalajdzic’s footwork, counterpunching, and defense were on full display as he landed different variations of the right hand with ease.
Ellison was not going to go away easy and started to fight back. He landed a few solid shots on a Kalajdzic that momentarily lost focus in the middle rounds.
In round nine, Hot Rod landed a brutal counter-overhand right that dropped the British fighter to the canvas. Realizing his opponent was ready to go, Kalajdzic folded The Caveman with another right hand as the referee quickly waved off the fight.
Kalajdzic showed major improvement and scored a third straight knockout victory. It is time to look at challenging someone inside the top 15 of the rankings.
WILLIAM FOSTER RETURNS TO THE RING WITH A STOPPAGE OVER MISAEL LOPEZ
After being out of the ring for thirteen months, junior lightweight prospect William Foster III (16-0, 10KO) remains perfect after stopping Misael Lopez (14-4, 5KO).
Foster took control of the fight early behind that long jab and found a home for those right hands. In round three, the referee credited him with a knockdown when Lopez stumbled into the corner from a flurry of punches.
In the middle rounds, Lopez came marching back into the fight with hard body shots that slowed down Foster momentarily. Motivated by his success, the Mexican focused on the body and managed to land a few hard right hands.
In the closing rounds, Foster shifted gears and turned up the power by landing repeated right hands that dropped Lopez in the eighth round. Despite surviving the previous round, Lopez was sent to the canvas from another debilitating right hand in the ninth round, which forced the referee to call off the contest.
Forster picked up a solid win but needs to get back into the gym and back in the ring again soon to keep the momentum going.
