Rolando Romero Throws Shade at Devin Haney and George Kambosos
In boxing, fighters often develop a disdain for each other long before fans see it unfold. Fighters will cross paths in the amateur ranks or during sparring sessions in the local gym. WBA number one contender Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-0, 11KOs) and WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15KOs) have such a history.
The rivalry between these two goes back to their days at the Mayweather Boxing Gym in Las Vegas. Things were so intense on social media that The Dream broke code by posting a sparring session of him mopping the floor with Rolly. Romero would photoshop a picture of the WBC champion as a girl, calling him “the biggest bitch in boxing“.
Romero would shift gears and started chasing WBA Regular champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. That fight is scheduled to take place on May 28. Haney is on track to fight for undisputed against unified champion George Kambosos on June 5.
ROMERO HOLDS HIS TUNE ON HANEY
However, Romero still holds bad blood with his arch-rival and picked Kambosos to win the fight out of his dislike for Haney. Recently Haney called former trainer Jeff Mayweather a hater for picking Kambosos to win.
Mayweather feels that although Haney has a chance to win, it will be impossible in Kambosos’s home country of Australia unless he gets a knockout. As most pundits and fans have expressed that same sentiment, that is a valid point.
While talking to media, Romero bet against Haney for personal reasons and made it clear he does not care about fighting the winner of the undisputed showdown.
“I’m going for Kambosos. I want Kambosos, you know why? Because I don’t like fucking Devin Haney and how he looks.”
“I don’t support boring fighters. I’m over here fighting a real fucking champ. Gervonta Davis is a real fucking multi-division champ. I’m not going to fight fucking Devin Haney, who is a fucking email champion, and Kambosos, who got a fucking lucky day with Teofimo. Fuck them both. I fight fucking pay-per-view stars.”
