Claressa Shields claps back and ready to face Marshall
The self-proclaimed G.W.O.A.T (Greatest Woman Of All-Time) and three-divisional champion, Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 5ko), is always looking to see if anyone is talking trash about her on social media and needs to be put back into their place.
Well, it should not come as a surprise to anyone that the face of woman’s boxing was entangled in a slice and dice verbal assault with British promoter Eddie Hearn and former undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus (36-1, 9ko).
NEW CHALLENGER AND OLD ENEMY
It is well documented Shields’ only loss was to Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (9-0, 7ko) in the amateurs. It is something that the Flint fighter has been itching to avenge for a while. However, there is a chance the opportunity to get revenge could be on the horizon.
On a busy Halloween day in boxing, Shields’ former amateur rival won the WBO middleweight championship by easily stopping former IBO champion and Shields opponent, Hannah Rankin (9-5, 2ko).
Furthermore, the Silent Assassin is the first to knock out the former IBO champion. Not even the G.W.O.A.T was able to accomplish this feat in her November 2018 with Rankin. Moreover, to add even more gas to the fire, the former amateur rival holds the belt in a division that the three-divisional once reigned supreme over.
THE CALL OUT AND CLAP BACK
Now, Hearn is someone who knows to strike when the iron is hot. He immediately took to social media after his fighter won the WBO championship, and issued a challenge.
Oh wait, there is more.
Braekhus, who has been in a drama-filled back and forth with the three-divisional champion, was not shy about picking Marshall to be the winner if the former amateur rivals were to meet.
“I believe Savmarshall1 will win.”
Well, if you know anything about the Shields, a clap back was inevitable. In true G.W.O.A.T fashion, she accepted the challenge and wished the former undisputed welterweight champion a happy retirement.
