David Adeleye Welcomes a Fight with Fabio Wardley

British heavyweight David “Big D” Adeleye (12-0, 11 KOs) is a day removed from scoring a fifth-round stoppage over Emir Ahmatovic at York Hall in London, England. Next up could be a domestic contest with the British heavyweight champion, Fabio Wardley (16-0, 15 KOs). When asked about a potential matchup with Wardley during an interview with iFL TV, the confident fighter from London feels he would put his lights out.

“If the money is right, (Wardley) can come and see me . . . He gets knocked out; he gets knocked out.”

A MATCHUP THAT MAKES PLENTY OF SENSE

Featured in the 3kingsboxing.com Prospect Watch series, Adeleye is considered one of the promising up-and-coming heavyweights in the UK. The 26-year-old is a natural athlete with good boxing skills and plenty of power in both hands. With the win over Ahmatovic, Adeleye is expected to be mandated to fight for the British title.

Wardley is coming off the disappointment of not landing a fight with the highly-touted Frazer Clarke. Like Adeleye, Wardley has shown great promise. A battle with Adeleye would be a more than suitable fall-back plan.

Both men are engaging with the media. They carry similar physical traits in the ring and have gained a fanbase in England. On paper, it would be an intriguing British domestic showdown.

Whether a Wardley – Adeleye fight occurs will come down to a battle at the negotiating table. Adeleye fights for Frank Warren and Queensbury. Wardley fights for Eddie Hearn and Matchroom. Look for Warren to make a big push over the next few weeks for his fighter to get a shot at Wardley. If the fight is ordered and Warren and Hearn can agree to terms, it could happen as early as this fall.
