Bradley Tells Ryan Garcia to Work on his Legacy in the Sport

Despite being attacked by the fans and junior welterweight fighter “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20KO), Hall of Fame Inductee Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley went after King Ry for never winning a title.

It’s well known that Garcia missed the contractual weight by 3.2 pounds for his bout with WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney. The upset win resulted in him gaining increased popularity, but he didn’t win the title.

YOU STILL HAVE NO ACCOLADES

Bradley has since responded to King Ry calling for him to keep his word and retire from being a commentator. Defiant to the bitter end, he also told Sean Zittel, that the Californian still lacks any accolades.

“Ryan is blessed with speed, he’s blessed with power. He is a decent fighter, not going to lie. But he hasn’t accomplished anything in the sport. He hasn’t accomplished anything in the sport, and that’s factual.”

“You beat Haney, good job. Where are your titles? Where are your accolades? You have no accolades, dog. At the end of the day, when you’re mentioned, you’ll be mentioned for popularity – that’s it!”

Like many fighters from his era, Desert Storm has an old-school mindset where building a legacy was more important to fighters. Whether you agree with him or not, King Ry needs to win some championships to be remembered throughout boxing history.

Garcia could be looking to change all that after showing a desire to fight IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis. The Philadelphian is the boogeyman and the division’s next kingpin.

Boxing is a sport where having a legacy means winning championships and building a solid resume of names. Garcia has a good name on his resume in Haney. Now it’s time to start working on those accolades by winning a title.
