Ryan Garcia Faults Devin Haney for Low Ticket Sales
Top junior welterweight contender “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20KO) blames WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney’s (31-0, 15KO) lack of star power for low ticket sales.
The upcoming fight featuring amateur rivals The Dream and King Ry has taken a heavy hit in the financial department. Reports of low ticket sales and pictures of several seats available have been spreading on social media like wildfire.
IT’S NOT MY FAULT
During a media workout, Garcia addressed the situation by pointing the finger at Haney.
“I mean, a lot of things can affect it. But, I don’t think anything I said affected the fight. I think that it’s more so on him. You know, Devin Haney is not a draw, and I definitely have been carrying this promotion on my back by myself. Nobody wants to watch a guy that supposedly can’t crack an egg.”

As far as Haney not having any power, boxing fans saw that he could crack in the victory over Regis Prograis. It’s worth mentioning that the WBC champion’s last Pay-Per-View did an unconfirmed 50,000 or 60,000 buys. It was a significant drop off from the reported 150,000 buys in the prior undisputed fight against Vasyl Lomachenko in May 2023.
SOME BLAME TO SHOULDER
In fairness, Garcia pointed to high ticket prices as another reason for the low sales. But he has to take the heavy burden of the blame in this situation. During the build-up to the fight, his weird behavior had fans thinking he wasn’t taking the fight seriously.
King Ry raised boxing fans’ eyebrows by mentioning how drinking in camp wasn’t a big deal. All of this led to the majority of boxing fans wondering if something was wrong with him. Some even called for Garcia to be pulled from the fight.
Yes, a case can be made that Haney isn’t a big draw. Yet, Garcia’s erratic behavior played a more significant role in the lack of sales.
