Gervonta Davis is moving on past Ryan Garcia

Two-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (24-0, 23ko) after hearing divisional rival and Golden Boy Promotions lightweight star Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (21-0, 18ko) call him out since 2020. After finally agreeing to the fight, Garcia later pulled out for another big fight opportunity.

THE YEAR LONG CHASE TO FIGHT DAVIS

Garcia spent the majority of 2020 attacking the power-punching knockout artist from Baltimore. There was the time KingRy went after the two-divisional champion for his domestic incident that went viral all over social media.

“You’re all over the place bruh, we all seen that incident you’ll never be able to put your hands on me like that. THAT’S SOME BITCH SHIT SMH DO BETTER.”

He then taunted the two-divisional champion with a video of a chubby looking Davis dreaming of getting hit by his trademark left hook. He even took shots at Davis over his feud with promoter Floyd “Money” Mayweather rgarding a leaked training video with fellow rival WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney.

“Why are so mad is it bc Floyd’s training Devin!”

Garcia kept the hits coming. It became an obsession. If you were to ask him how the weather was, he would reply, “It’s nice, and I want to fight Tank Davis.” Furthermore, all of this was during the COVID-19 lockdown, and he had plenty of time on his hands to keep up a relentless attack in pursuit of his dream fight.

THE CHANGE-UP THAT NOBODY SAW COMING

KingRy kicked off 2021 in spectacular fashion, getting up off the canvas only to score a seventh-round stoppage against Luke Campbell. Moreover, despite winning the WBC interim title, making him the mandatory for Haney, he instead immediately called out the two-divisional champion.

Davis finally acknowledged the fight would happen when the two were going back and forth on social media.

“Lol, when I ever been a bitch?! You know who you talked to ten minutes before ya ring walk. The fight already been made…now…shut up and get ready!”

During an appearance on Mike Tyson’s podcast Hotboxin, KingRy doubled down on a previous claim of knocking out his divisional nemesis within two rounds, and he really went all-out when Davis called into the show to confirm the fight was next. Garcia immediately insisted that now, the two-divisional champion can’t back out and must fight him next.

The boxing community was excited and social media was on fire. However, a recent development has everyone pumping their brakes. Garcia would take to social media announcing that he must forgo the Davis fight for an even bigger opportunity.

Rumors started circling that Garcia was in preliminary talks for a possible fight with WBA Welterweight champion Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao (62-7-2 39ko). This sent shockwaves throughout the boxing community.

Davis, after enduring all that trolling from the Interim champion, took to social media with a message for the fans.
