Devin Haney Predicts a Better Showing in Rematch with George Kambosos!

When “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KO’s) was heading into battle with then WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15 KO’s), he was extremely confident that he’d win. After twelve rounds of one-sided action though, he was handed his first professional loss. While he has been more or less gracious about accepting his defeat, it’s not been completely devoid of excuses.

Let Ferocious tell the story and he’d tell you that an overly lenient referee is the real reason why Haney was able to shine the way that he was. On the other hand, The Dream not only feels that he will repeat his victorious outing when they meet again on October 16, Haney is adamant that he will be markedly more dominant.

“I put on a great performance for what George Kambosos brought to the table. But this fight I feel like will be even better because I know that George is going to come to fight, to give it his all. Even more than he did the first time, so it’ll make it easier to showcase my skills even more. It’ll be better this time around for me.”

MORE TO COME

The Dream has stated, on several occasions, how important it was to become the undisputed champion of the division. As avoided as he was, it is a special treat for him to own all the belts. Yet, even having accomplished this goal, the skillful Californian still has more ambitions to achieve.

“It was a dream come true for me to become undisputed, my name being mentioned with the greats, but it doesn’t stop there. I want my name to be mentioned with the greats, still. I want my name to be mentioned with Pernell Whitaker. He was undisputed but he defended his belts as undisputed and I want to do the same thing. I want my name to be with those guys who defended the belts and I will be the youngest to defend the belts and come out victorious, inshallah!”

Before he can get too hung up on his other long term goals, Haney must first beat Kambosos again. So, let’s see how October 16 shakes out for both men.
