Zelfa Barrett Looks Good in Stoppage Win Over Jordan Gill
In a junior lightweight showdown, Zelfa “Brown Flash” Barrett (31-2, 17KO) stopped Jordan “The Thrill” Gill (28-3-1, 9KO) with punishing body shots.
Barrett’s fast hands and power jab were on point early in the fight. He even attacked the body, taking advantage of Gill’s lack of punch output. Landing a hard body shot that momentarily hurt his opponent, the Brown Flash looked brilliant.
Yet, The Thrill wasn’t going to lay down without a fight and came storming back. He landed hard counter right hands over the lazy jab of Barrett at times. Switching to southpaw, he had some success landing solid lead left hands on the body.
In the middle rounds, Gill took control of the fight after Barrett decided to move around the ring looking to potshot. With an opponent in front of him whose left eye was closing, Barrett should’ve been attacking a lot more.
As the fight approached the final rounds, the Brown Flash needed to pick it up as Gill seemed to have found his groove. With the fight slipping out of his grasp, Barrett landed a hard hook to the body that put Gill on the canvas. To the shock of the crowd, The Thrill got back up and fought strong before getting put back on the canvas by another body shot.
Barrett went into beast mode and hit his opponent with several unanswered shots, forcing the referee to stop the fight in the tenth round.
