Caleb Plant clowns Benavidez for missing weight
It’s well-documented, the ongoing beef between IBF Super Middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (20-0, 12ko), and fellow stablemate former WBC champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavidez (22-0, 19ko). The two fighters have gone back and forth on a personal level.
Benavidez once claimed how he wanted to break the face of the IBF champion. He even accused him of “talking out of his ass”.
Hold on, “Sweethands” isn’t exactly innocent, he has made some harsh clap-backs. When asked about a possible clash, he said perhaps “If he can keep his nose clean.” Ouch! The IBF champion is referring to when Benavidez had the belt taken away for testing positive for using an illegal recreational substance back in 2018.
The Arizona boxer regained the belt, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, there were hopes of the two clashing before the 2020 year came to a close. However, there has been another hiccup and you guessed it, the Benavidez is at fault again. This time it’s for missing weight for his upcoming title defense. With all the time off during the epidemic, Benavidez was overweight by nearly three pounds. Therefore, in the upcoming bout, only his opponent will be eligible to win the title.
So, once again, the huge unification clash is on hold. Well, by now we all know what happened next. Armed with this ammo, “Sweethands” took to social media with a crushing, mic dropping post.
