Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua rematch headed to Saudi Arabia!
At last, the whole “where is the rematch going to be” debacle is over and Saudi Arabia has landed it’s first mega-fight after years of failed attempts!
3kingsboxing.com has learned the highly anticipated rematch between unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr (33-1, 22KO) and former unified champion Anthony Joshua (22-1, 21KO) will take place in Saudi Arabia on December 7.
Initially, the bout was slated to take place in November back at the very site the first fight took place at, Madison Square Garden in New York. However, officials of Saudi Arabia came in with a strong enough offer to secure the fight.
A neutral site only seems fair for both men, who can go into this bout solely focused on victory and not the politics of a potential robbery.
An outdoor stadium is being constructed for this event that will entice fans from all over the world into seeing this high stakes clash up close and personal! This sequel is being tabbed as the “Clash of the Dunes.”
It’ll be interesting to see how many American and British fans travel to the Middle East, as the location of the fight isn’t ideal. In the end, money talks and that’s why Saudi Arabia will host the rematch.
An official announcement from Eddie Hearn and DAZN is expected soon.
