Seren Cetin Claims She Will Deliver Mary Romero a Knockout Loss!

WBC Silver bantamweight titlist Seren Cetin (10-0, 7KO) is taking on Mary Romero (8-3, 2KO) in a WBC title eliminator in front of the home fans in Turkey on March 18.

The rise of women’s boxing has new faces and names popping up like hotcakes. Cetin is one of those names that has emerged from under the radar into title contention. According to Istanbul AA Sport, she will be defending the minor title against Romero with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for WBC champion Yulihan Luna.

She first burst on the scene with a third-round knockout over Dondu Nazlica in 2018. Cetin continued to rise through the ranks, taking out subpar opponents with ease. In her biggest step-up fight, she gave the performance of a lifetime by stopping veteran title challenger Eva Voraberger in the fourth round in 2022.

CETIN WANTS TO BE THE FIRST TO STOP MORENO

That victory earned her the honor of being the first Turkish female to win the WBC Silver belt. During the interview with AA sport, she was emphatic about being the first to stop Moreno.

“I will knock out my opponent for the first time.”

Moreno is coming off a defeat at the hands of super bantamweight prospect Ellie Scotney on October 2022. She will be going down in weight for the chance to fight for the title against Cetin.

Cetin also holds the number-one slot with the WBO, putting her right in the mix with champion Dino Thorslund. The 25 year-old Silver titlist has the power to stop Moreno and it would send a statement to the champion that she is coming.
