Arslanbek Makhumdov Stops Miljan Rovcanin Early!
In his latest tour of duty, Russian heavyweight fighter Arslanbek Makhmudov (19-1, 18 KO’s) bounced back into the win column in memorable fashion. Makhmudov accomplished this by stopping his opponent, Miljan Rovcanin (27-4, 18 KO’s), by way of second round knockout. Having been stopped himself in his previous duel, by Agit Kabayel, it was clear that Makhmudov was determined to make a statement here.
To open, the Russian went straight to the middle of the ring and started tossing big shots at Rovcanin’s head. Despite going about his work in rather crude fashion, Makhmudov was rewarded by clubbing his foe with a few solid shots that hurt him before landing a hard punch on the shoulder that put Rovcanin down and halfway out of the ring. To his credit, Rovcanin made his feet. He even caught the Russian with a hard hook before the end of the round.
Ultimately, it would make little difference. Makhmudov would clip Rovcanin with a sturdy right cross square on the chin, dropping him again. On this occasion however, he would not beat the count. This was a solid win for Makhmudov. He will no doubt look to parlay this win into a bigger showdown with a better recognized opponent.
