Sebastian Fundora Puts Away Keith Thurman & Warns All At 154

When pitted against his most decorated opponent on paper, WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (24-1-1; 16 KO’s) rose to the occasion in beautiful fashion. As a result, Fundora claimed a sixth-round TKO victory over former welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (31-2, 23 KO’s) in a very one-sided beatdown.

Having dispatched One Time in dominant fashion, Fundora is now free to seek out new opposition. When questioned about who he wanted next, he did not supply any specific names. Instead, The Towering Inferno opteto put the whole division on notice.

FLYING FLAGS AT 154

Two major potential foes in WBA 154-pound champion Xander Zayas and interim WBA super welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis are heavily rumored to be challenging each other next. This would leave available IBF titlist Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly as the last viable full champion to battle.

Kelly’s last tour of duty came against Bakhram Murtazaliev who he beat by majority decision this past January 31. Only time will tell if Murtazaliev, who has only fought in the US twice, will lock horns with Fundora. There is still interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (24-0, 22 KO’s) milling about looking for trouble.

Ortiz and his team have been locked in a very public feud with Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy. Given his inability to make the specific fights he wants, the immediate future of his career is rather uncertain.

With all the top brass seemingly already engaged or ensnared in political drama, we will have to wait and see what Team Fundora comes up with for the fearsome boxer.
