It’s being rumored that former unified middleweight champion Gennedy Golovkin (38-1-1, 34KOs) and PBC mogul Al Haymon spoke on a possible deal. After signing Manny Pacquiao and making a PPV fight with Adrien Broner, could another big name be signed to the PBC brand?

The Kazakh fighter, currently with K2 promotions, is one of the biggest free agents since HBO’s announcement. Looking to make a return in 2019, he will have to decide where to go.

If Haymon can pull this signing, it could change everything at the middleweight and possibly the super-middleweight divisions.

Looking at the landscape, there are good fights that could be made at super-middleweight. Anthony Dirrell and Anvi Yildirim will fight for the vacant WBC title in February. Although, former champion David Benavidez has first dibs on the winner, Golovkin can definitely throw his name in the pot.

Furthermore, he can explore a fight with the winner of IBF champion Jose Uzcategui and Caleb Plant as well as WBA super champion Callum Smith.

It would also mean Jermall Charlo could finally get the opportunity that has eluded him so far. The possibilities are endless, assuming the unified champion Canelo Alvarez lacks interest in a rubber match.

Golovkin hasn’t fought since losing the titles. However, with Top Rank/ESPN and DAZN in the hunt, any which way you look at it there is no wrong outcome considering the big fights that can be made.
