Eddie Hearn Agrees That Tyson Fury Fouled Dillian Whyte in Title Match

As it is in life, the sport of boxing is full of injustices and unfair outcomes. On April 23, Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (28-3, 19 KO’s) suffered what he felt was an unfairness in the form of a sixth-round knockout at the hands of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Despite eating and being seriously discombobulated by a thunderous right uppercut, Whyte emphatically insists that he only lost because of foul play. This is because after Fury landed the devastating blow, he used both hands to forcefully shove Whyte to the ground.

On the one hand, it’s true that Fury did blatantly push The Body Snatcher to the ground, which is clearly a foul in the sport. On the other hand however, there is no question that the shot scrambled Whyte’s brain and left him in a seriously impaired state. Therefore, had The Gypsy King not pushed Whyte over, he likely would have been drunkenly moving around the ring and making himself available for further punishment. So while there is no denying that an infraction was committed, it’s very debatable whether or not Whyte could have survived anyway.

SPILT MILK

Unfortunately for him, Whyte is not likely to receive anything that he would deem to be justice in this matter. Prior to the uppercut and questionable shove, Whyte was handily losing the bout to Fury who was easily controlling the action. Yet, to throw a bit of salt into the open wound, Eddie Hearn, Whyte’s Matchroom Boxing promoter, recently admitted that he doesn’t think the push had anything to do with the overall outcome of the prizefight.

“I think he was badly hurt from the uppercut. The push was blatant [but] did it make a difference? I don’t think so, but yeah he shouldn’t have pushed him over but he was staggered and when he got up, he was out. He said he hit his head on the floor I think, when he went down, but I don’t think it changed the process of the fight. But it was a foul, that’s for sure!”

Now, we’ll just have to wait and see what is next for Whyte now that he’s suffered his latest defeat. Regardless of whether he can claw his way back to title contention or not, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report his journey.
